DAY 2 : MYSORE

We reached Nanjungud, took a room there for night.. Next day morning, we got ready and went to Temple.. 

Destination 1: Nanjangud

Nanjangud is also known as "Dakshina Kashi" or "Varanasi/Prayag of South". Main deity of this temple is  Srikanteshwara.. Nanju in kannada means poison; the name Nanjundeshwara means the "God who Drank the Poison". Its quite a big temple..  Temple is located near River Kapila.. Lot of devotees, take bath in this river and have darshan of this lord..  We had darshan and left to next place..

Destination 2: Himavad Gopalaswamy temple

Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta, is a hill (betta in Kannada) located in the Chamarajanagar district of the state of Karnataka, at a height of 1454 m. It is said the hills  covers fog  round the year and thus named Himavad(Hima is snow/ice in Kannada) and the temple of Venugopalaswamy (Lord Krishna) thus called  Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta. It is a very small temple with small Idol of Lord Venu gopala.. 

Either side of the hill is a dense forest, and purohit said wild life, especially elephants come upto temple also.. We saw  elephant dung on stairs and realised it was a fact. We had darshan of lord and came out.. It was excellent scenic view from the top of hill/temple... We  saw some elephants far away in the wild.. We came down and waited for a while, and we could see wild elephants and baby elephants close by.. Took some pics and head to next destination..

Destination 3: Vontikoppal  temple

Main deity of Vontikoppal temple is Sri Lakshmi Venkatramana Swamy temple.. The temple is located in place called Vontikoppal in mysore, thats why its also called Vontikoppal Sri Lakshmi Venkatramana Swamy temple.

Destination 4: KRS - Brindavan garden

KRS or Krishna Raja Sagara is a dam as well as lake, built across Caveri river. The dam inhouses beautiful garden called Brindavan garden.. Dam was built by a famous engineer  Sir M Visvesvaraya.. The reservoir is the main source of drinking water for all of mysore and Bangalore..

 I have visited KRS before umpteen number of times. Its a great place to spend as a picnic.. But this time it was very hot, and we dint feel like spending much time, just took some pics and left to our next destination.

Destination 5: Balmuri Falls

Balmuri falls is a water falls outskirst of mysore, and a favourite picnic spot.. Balmuri is technically not a water falls, but  river cauvery flows on a river bed, and there is a check dam built for irrigation purpose, when dam is filled, it flows in a long cascade making it a beautiful view.

Lots of movies are shot in this place, and people enjoy playing in water and there are lots of stall selling fish and other snacks.. We had lots of fun playing in water for around 2hours, ate some snack from nearby stall and left to bangalore, as this was our last destination...

DAY 1 : MYSORE


Mysore is just 2hrs drive from bangalore..We started at 6;00am from Bangalore.
Destination1: DODDAMALLUR KRISHNA TEMPLE
Destination2:  SRIRANGAPATNA
Destination3: NIMISHAMBA TEMPLE 
Destination4: MYSORE PALACE 
Destination5: MYSORE ZOO
Destination6:CHAMUNDI HILLS 
 
Destination1: DODDAMALLUR KRISHNA

Our first stop was Krishna's temple, which is called as Sri Navaneeta Krishna OR  Sri Ramapreya Swamy OR Ambegal krishna, Doddamallur Krishna.Idol of Ambegalu Navaneetha Krishna  (crawling Krishna with butter in hand), is believed to be the only statue of Lord Sri Krishna in this pose. This temple is famous for couple who wants to beget child.. Ambegal krishna is really cute.. We had darshan and had breakfast in darshini of temple campus..




                          
 
                         


Destination2:  SRIRANGAPATNA

Ranganathaswamy temple is one among Pancharanga Kshetram, and is Adi Ranga.. Ranganathaswamy is a avatar of Vishnu who reclines on the coils of the snake Adisesha, under a canopy formed by the snake's seven hoods, with his consort Lakshmi at his feet. It is a very big temple. We had darshan of Lord Ranganatha and headed to next destination.


Destination3: NIMISHAMBA TEMPLE 
 
Nimishamba is incarnation of Goddess Parvathi. Nimisha(Minute) Amba(mother) is said to remove all the problems and troubles of her devotees within a minute. This is a beautiful temple located on the banks of river cauvery. This temple was installed at the time of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar about 300 to 400 years ago. We spent some time in river cauveri, and headed to our next destination.




                                       




Destination4: MYSORE PALACE 



Palace of Mysore,Also known as Amba Vilas Palace. The official residence of the Wodeyars. The current palace was commissioned by Queen Maharani Vani Vilas Sannidhna, and her son Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV who appointed the British architect-Lord Henry Irwin-to build a new palace in the place of the old one after it turned into ashes owing to a fire accident. 



Palace inhouses Ambavilasa - private audience, Gombe Thotti - traditional dolls from the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Kalyana Mantapa - Royal marriages. Temples Someshvara Temple, Lakshmiramana Temple, Shwetha Varahaswamy Temple. Palace illumination of 1Lakh bulbs on every Sunday,public holidays from 7pm to 7.45pm

We had a great tour of Palace.It is a vast palace and needs 2-3hours to cover entire palace.. It depicts the richness of the wodeyars who ruled Mysore till Independence. It has lot of paintings,  furniture's, swords used by royals..








Destination5: MYSORE ZOO




               

Mysore Zoo(Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens) is a 245-acre zoo located near the palace. It has a wonderful collections of Birds, Reptiles, Tiger, Giraffe,
Elephant..








Destination6:CHAMUNDI HILLS

Chamundi hills inhouses Chamundeshwari, incarnation of Devi Parvati, who is family deity of the royal family. This temple is located in on elevation of 1,000 metres.. And has 1008 steps.. One can climb the step or take vehicle to top of the hill...Chamundi hill inhouses Nandi of 4.9 metres(high) and Mahishasura Statue.

MYSORE 1

Mysore is my mom's maternal place. So we have visited mysore n number of times..After marriage i wanted to visit, Chamundeshwari temple in mysore..





We decided to go two day trip and visit all places in mysore..My parents also accompanied us.




MYSORE 2 -BANDIPUR - OCT 2014

We wanted to visit  Bandipur Tiger Reserve And National Park.
Its just 1.5hrs from Mysore... 




My Grand parents house is in mysore.. So we visit mysore
every summer..  Even  after marriage we went to mysore, covering most of places..



We decided to visit my cousins house at mysore, and drive to
Bandipur Park from there...



Bangalore to mysore is around 3hrs Drive... There are multiple 
small towns on the way , we  decided to include  few interesting spots in these towns...
